The flagship program
4-Week Medical Research & University Pathways Program
Live, interactive sessions for high-school and university students interested in medicine and biomedical sciences. Early-bird price $189 USD per student (regular price $249 USD).
Collaboration
In collaboration with the International Neuroscience Research Consortium (INRC).
INRC is a global network of neuroscientists, neurosurgeons and computational biologists. Through the collaboration, INRC researchers speak to Medquara students and provide research opportunities.
The four weeks at a glance
| Week | Theme | What students do | Students leave with |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Explore Medicine & Discover Your Path | Talk with doctors, researchers and medical students about what the work involves | A clearer picture of which pathway may suit them |
| 2 | Enter the Lab | Build a brain model on a computer with MNE-Python | Their own working brain model |
| 3 | Think Like a Scientist | Turn a question into a figure and a poster | Their own scientific poster |
| 4 | Medical School Applications & Next Steps | Learn how applications, personal statements and interviews work | A personal plan for next steps |
The first cohort runs from 30 November to 28 December 2026. Session days, times and time zone are confirmed with each cohort and shared before you decide to enrol.
Week 1
Explore Medicine & Discover Your Path
What doctors actually do, and where you might fit.
- A realistic look at the work of physicians across different specialities and settings
- Live conversations with doctors, researchers and medical students
- How clinical, research and other healthcare pathways differ
- Reflecting on your own interests, strengths and questions
Outcome: a clearer picture of which pathway may suit you.
Week 2
Enter the Lab
Build a brain model on a computer.
- Set up MNE-Python, a free open-source tool, with step-by-step guidance
- Open a free, anonymous brain-activity recording made for teaching
- Build your own brain model and explore it in 3D
- Spot patterns and ask your own questions, guided by researchers
- No coding experience needed
Outcome: your own working brain model.
Week 3
Think Like a Scientist
From question to figure to poster.
- How researchers turn a question into a small, answerable project
- Reading and making scientific figures
- Structuring a scientific poster
- Preparing to explain your findings clearly to others
Outcome: your own scientific poster.
Week 4
Medical School Applications & Next Steps
How to actually approach your application.
- International application systems
- Direct-entry and graduate-entry routes into medicine
- Entry requirements and admissions tests
- Application timelines
- Personal statements
- Interview preparation
- Common application mistakes
Outcome: a personal plan for your next steps.
Final session
Research Showcase
Every student presents their own work, just as researchers do at scientific meetings.
- Complete your mini research project
- Create a scientific poster
- Present your findings
- Answer questions
- Receive feedback
Students who complete the program and present at the showcase receive a Medquara Certificate of Completion. It is an educational certificate of completion, not an accredited qualification.
Week 2 is an educational research exercise using openly available, de-identified datasets. Students do not diagnose patients or make clinical judgements. Pathway information in Week 4 is general and educational; Medquara does not guarantee admission to any medical school.
Be part of the first Medquara cohort.
The first cohort runs from 30 November to 28 December 2026. Ready to join? Buy now. Not ready yet? Register your interest to receive cohort dates, the full schedule and next steps, with no payment and no obligation.
